Des and Amanda Imms are passionate runners, trail runners, and hikers who have explored some of Northland's most beautiful terrain. You'll often find them on the trails of Pukenui Forest, Glenbervie Forest, or taking on the stunning tracks around Bream Head.
Their running journey began in earnest in 2018, leading to their first official event at the 30th anniversary of the Kerikeri Half Marathon in 2019. The mountains called to them next, and in 2021 they tackled their first mountain race – the Goat Alpine Adventure Run. The ultra-distance bug bit hard, with Des completing his first 50km at the legendary Tarawera Ultra Marathon in 2023, followed by Amanda conquering the same distance in 2024.
In 2020, Des and Amanda noticed a gap in the local market. There were no specialist trail running stores in the area offering expert advice on mountain race requirements, ultra preparation, or access to the specific brands, shoes, and equipment that trail runners rely on. So they took a leap of faith and Trek Trail & Fish was born.
What started as a mission to fill a local need has grown into something special. Over the years, they've continuously expanded their product range, and in 2023, took the store online to serve trail runners and outdoor enthusiasts across the whole of New Zealand.
